Today I used my left over ham and made beans and potatoes. Something magical happens to these green beans and potatoes after being in the crockpot all day with my left over ham.... oh it is heavenly!
The smell of them cooking fills the whole house and drives my dogs nuts. I think it is probably the ham that smells so good simmering in the crockpot.
This meal is a favorite summer meal of ours. Nothing like fresh green beans and new potatoes from the farmers market. The beans I bought at the grocery store we a little bit old but still cooked up ok.
Cally was home this weekend to do volunteer work at On-The-Rise. On-The-Rise is a farm just a few miles from our home. Cally helped build these raised garden bed forms
On-The-Rise is located in a unique country setting on an eight acre farm just outside of Springfield, Ohio. On-The-Rise serves at-risk youth in Clark County struggling with family, social, educational and behavioral issues. To learn more you can visit their website by clicking here
Bill was on call this weekend for his job and was gone a lot so I messed around the house getting all my Easter dishes and Easter things put away, organized my pantry and cleaned house.
Crockpot Green Beans and Potatoes
Ham bone (I used my left over ham from Easter)
fresh green beans (snapped into bit size pieces)
new potatoes (or can use thin skin potatoes cut into bite size pieces)
water (enough to cover everything in the crock pot)
Put the ham bone in the crockpot and add the beans and potatoes around it. Fill with enough water to cover. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or until the beans and potatoes are tender.
