It has been a busy weekend!  Yesterday Bill and I attended a car show at our favorite restaurant in Newport, KY.  It was at Hofbräuhaus Newport.

We like to go to this car show because of the way the judging is set up.  We find that with our car being a "newer" car that sometimes it gets over looked at shows with lots of older generation cars.  At this car show they had classes.  We were judged in the class of 1981 to 2004 which makes it more of a competition of cars in our era.

We had a great day and placed in the top 30 or our class.

While in Newport we also placed out Love Lock on the Purple People Bridge.  We had attended a Reds game on the 4th of July.  We all parked in Newport and then walked across the Purple People Bridge into Cincinnati.  The bridge is where we also watched our fireworks from that night.  I was surprised when I had seen all the locks on the bridge.  At that point we already knew we would be attending the car show in August so I decided I was going to get a lock and add it to the bridge.

Here you can see our lock hanging on the bridge with the Cincinnati skyline in the background.  I think there were more locks on the bridge since we were there in July.  I have heard that the Love Locks have grown in popularity since the removal of the locks in Paris.  After we locked our lock onto the bridge we tossed the key into the water.  I was more excited about the whole experience than Bill was but he was a good sport and went with me to do it.

I have posted this Peanut Butter Cake recipe several years ago but it was when I first started blogging and the pictures were horrible so I decided to do an update.  This recipe was given to me by a friend probably 20 years ago.  When I worked in the Mortgage business our department would have potlucks once a month.  Oh how I loved those potlucks because you always came home with lots of great recipes!  My friend Victoria made this Peanut Butter Cake several times for our potluck lunches.  This cake has been a hit with everyone who has a piece. This cake is also a ribbon winner at the fair.  In 2007 it took 2nd place.

The above picture is if you want to make it in a sheet cake pan.  For dinner last week at my in-laws I made it in a half a sheet pan.  The recipe for half the sheet cake is pretty much just dividing the recipe in half but to make it easier I am putting the recipe as I did it below.

Mix in pan and bring to a boil:
1/8 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup butter

Sift the following and add to the above mixture:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon soda

Mix and add to the above mixture:
1 eggs
1/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Stir well and pour into greased half sheet pan 8x11x1. Bake for 18 minutes at 375 degrees.  It is done when it is a nice brown and when the center is touched it springs back.

Frosting
Mix in pan and bring to a boil:
6 Tablespoons margarine
3 Tablespoons buttermilk
1/4 cup peanut butter

Take off stove and add:
3 cups powdered sugar and 1/2 Tablespoon vanilla.
