Open-Faced Garlic Bread French Dips are one of our fast and easy go to meals
This is a fast easy sandwich to make. It just takes assembling and a little oven time. While in the oven you can heat up your Au Jus
That's it ... easy peasy 😋
You can use any frozen garlic toast for this recipe. I like the roast beef at Aldi so most of my ingredients for these sandwiches come from there (well, all but the Au Jus gravy mix packet)
I have found the easiest roast beef (and best tasting in my opinion for a sandwich) is the roast beef sliced lunch meat.
My recipe is for 4 sandwiches since I am making this for only Bill and I but you can easily double this recipe and use the whole box of garlic toast. That being said, I also only use half of the Au Jus Gravy mix which measures out to 3 Tablespoons of mix and then half the water for 1 1/2 cups water. For the roast beef I put 4 slices on each slice of garlic toast, but you can use more or less to your desire. Bill does pack a lunch every day for work, so we use the extra roast beef for his sandwiches for the week.
4 slices garlic toast (box usually has 8 slices)
Deli roast beef (I like Aldi, Lunch Mate Deli Selected roast beef finely sliced - using 12 slices)
8 slices provolone cheese
Au Jus Dip
3 Tablespoons Au Jus gravy mix (or half of a 1 ounce package)
1 1/2 cups water
1. Place garlic toast on a foil covered baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes (we do like our toast crunchy on the bottom)
2. while toast is baking, in a small saucepan place 3 tablespoons of dry au jus gravy mix and 1 1/2 cups water and simmer until hot.
3. After toast is baked, with a spoon mash down the center of the garlic bread
4. Now build your sandwich - Place 1 slice of provolone cheese on the toast, then 4 slices of roast beef and top with another slice of provolone cheese.
5. Place back in the oven until the cheese is melted on top.
Place au jus in a small bowl for dipping sandwich in. This is lip smacking good 😜
